PGE Launches Program to Help Oregon School Districts go Electric

Portland General Electric recently announced plans to partner with eligible Oregon school districts to fund electric school buses and charging infrastructure. The program will be funded by Oregon Clean Fuels Program credits and will help up to four school districts in PGE’s service area pay for the cost of the buses, training for drivers and mechanics, and the necessary equipment to charge them.

According to the Oregon Department of Energy’s Biennial Energy Report, the transportation sector accounts for nearly 40 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions in Oregon. Programs like these will help Oregon reach its important GHG reduction goals by accelerating transportation electrification in the state.

Eligible school districts can learn more about the program and how to apply on PGE’s website.
